"[The Resource Directory] is really representative of how much cooperation and coordination it really takes to make food systems change happen. This is a really holistic look at resources. I applaud NCAI for working with USDA, for working with the [Native American Agriculture Fund], and all of the [featured partners] to make this happen."

         Erin Parker, Director, Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative

NCAI's Tribal Food Sovereignty and Food Production Resource Directory provides a comprehensive  collation of relevant funding resources and other sources of support available to individual Native food producers and tribal nations and organizations as they work to establish, grow, and sustain their food production, sovereignty, and security efforts. Containing more than 125 entries, the directory features:

(1) a robust assortment of grant, loan and technical assistance programs offered by both federal agencies and non-governmental sources;
(2) a distinct program grouping for (1) individual Native food producers and tribal nations and organizations, (2) tribal nations and organizations, (3) tribal nations with partners, and (4) loan programs;
(3) a current and detailed information file for each entry;
(4) visual icons enabling directory users to easily identify the topical focus and type of each entry;
(5) an Other Resources section to assist tribal nations and practiitioners through providing a listing of guidebooks, toolkits, training recordings, and education curriculum on tribal food sovereignty and agriculture; and
(6) alphabetical and categorical indexes to help directory users find programs organized by name or type of expenditures and activites they support.

Note: Development of this directory was supported by a grant from the Native American Agriculture Fast-Track Fund. Fast Track funding was part of the settlement of the Keepseagle v. Vilsack national class action lawsuit, which also led to the creation of the Native American Agriculture Fund (NAAF), the largest philanthropic entity supporting Native American farmers and ranchers through grants that focus on business assistance, technical support, and agricultural education, and advocacy.
