Swinomish Indian Tribal Community

The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is a small rural community consisting of 7,500 acres of land and 2,900 acres of tidelands in Skagit County, Washington. The Swinomish Reservation’s total population is approximately 4,700 and includes 978 enrolled Swinomish members and 200 members of other tribes who reside on the reservation.
The Tribe operates a full-time domestic violence shelter, staffed 24/7. The tribe funds its own public defender, through Swinomish Defense Services.
The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community received a $495,000 grant from OVW in 2017 to support the implementation and ultimate exercise of SDVCJ.
