NCAI Stands with Native Hawaiians in Efforts to Protect Mauna Kea

Published on Jul 22, 2019

“NCAI firmly stands with our Native Hawaiian relatives in their efforts to protect the sacred summit of Mauna Kea,” said NCAI CEO Kevin Allis. “We strongly oppose the destruction of our sacred places and structures, especially those central to our religious practices and beliefs, and view these actions as threats to our being as indigenous peoples. We urge respect to the significance of Mauna Kea  to our Hawaiian Ohana and we call for the supporters of the proposed telescope to secure an alternative location,” said Allis.
