The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) will honor six leadership award recipients for their extraordinary service to Indian Country.
Their exceptional commitment and dedication has provided an array of opportunities in the areas of: economic development, justice, health, and Indian affairs. Their contributions provide an invaluable service in promoting sovereignty and government relations.
"We are proud to recognize those that have exceeded the expectations of Indian Country though their noble efforts" said NCAI President Jefferson Keel. "Their support and partnership with NCAI allows us to further our advocacy and resources to tribes across the United States."
Native American Leadership Award
Elouise Cobell
Blackfeet Tribal Member and Lead Plaintiff in Cobell v. Salazar
In appreciation of years of work as spokesperson, inspiration, and moral force behind the effort to restore justice to American Indian trust account holders.
Public Sector Leadership Award
Dr. Stephen Cornell
Co-Director, Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development and Director, Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy, University of Arizona
Professor Joseph P. Kalt
Co-Director, Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development

Governmental Leadership Award
Dr. Eric Broderick
Deputy Administrator for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

Congressional Leadership Award
