NCAI Names Dr. Yvette Roubideaux as New Director of Policy Research Center
The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Yvette Roubideaux as the new Director of the NCAI Policy Research Center, located at the Embassy of Tribal Nations in Washington, DC. The NCAI Policy Research Center was launched in 2003 as a think tank focused on issues facing tribal communities. The Policy Research Center works with its partners to inform public policy at the tribal, federal, and state levels with quality and timely data.

Ryan Zinke Confirmed as Secretary of the Interior
Today Ryan Zinke was confirmed to serve as the 52nd Secretary of the Interior with a Senate vote of 68-31. The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) congratulates and welcomes Secretary Zinke to his new role as trustee to 567 Tribal Nations.

NCAI Protests Army Corps Decision to Issue Easement for Dakota Access Pipeline, Urges Changes to Infrastructure Permitting Process
The Army Corps of Engineers provided notice to Congress yesterday that it intends to issue the easement for the Dakota Access Pipeline, and to terminate its study of alternative routes and effects on tribal treaty rights. The decision is based on President Trump’s January 24 Presidential Memorandum ordering the Army Corps to expedite the issuance of the easement.
