NCAI will host a webinar on August 2nd on behalf of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) to provide and overview of the Universal Service Fund (USF) Lifeline and E-rate Programs.

On Monday, August 2nd, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. EST, NCAI will host a webinar on behalf of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) to provide an overview of the Universal Service Fund (USF) E-rate Program.

USAC is an independent, not-for-profit corporation designated by the Federal Communications Commission as the administrator of the USF. USAC works to protect the integrity of the USF through informing and education program audiences, collecting and distributing contributions, and promoting program compliance.

The Lifeline program provides discounts on telephone and cell phone services for low-income consumers. USAC staff will provide a basic overview of the Lifeline program as well as recent reforms adopted earlier this year. Specific information will also be provided to explain how low-income residents of tribal lands can apply for increased discounts on telephone and cell phone services.

Residents of tribal lands at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines, or that are enrolled in the following programs are eligible for enrollment in the Lifeline program: BIA General Assistance; Head Start; Tribally Administered TANF; the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR); Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); Supplemental Security Income (SSI); Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit; and others.
