The National Indian Country Training Initiative (NICTI), together with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is pleased to announce the human Trafficking in Indian Country Seminar. The seminar will be held February 3-5, 2014, at the National Advocacy Center (NAC). Travel and lodging accommodations will be paid for by the Department of Justice. There is no tuition fee for this training.
The seminar is intended for federal and tribal criminal justice professionals working in Indian Country. This seminar will serve to enhance participants’ understanding of legal definitions, elements of federal offenses, and current issues and challenges of human trafficking enforcement. The training will include in-depth discussions of effective strategies for identifying, investigation, and prosecuting human trafficking cases, including prosecutor' roles in planning successful enforcement operations; strategies for developing victim testimony; pretrial litigation strategies; effective trial presentation in human trafficking prosecutions; and sentencing issues. This seminar will focus primarily on sex trafficking.
