NCAI Preparatory Webinar - World Conference on Indigenous Peoples

Date: Oct 3, 2013

About the Event:

The Department of State has invited tribal leaders and indigenous organizations from across the nation to attend a listening session on October 11, 2013 in Washington, DC to discuss preparations for the United Nations' World Conference on Indigenous Peoples (WCIP) (click here for flyer). The WCIP will take place in September 2014 in New York City, and is expected to be an historic and important event that will shape how the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is implemented for years to come. The purpose of the listening session is to solicit recommendations from tribal government leaders and indigenous organizations about the agenda and objectives for the WCIP. In order to support tribes as they prepare for the listening session, NCAI will be hosting a webinar on Oct. 3 at 2pm EDT. The webinar will provide background information about the WCIP and give attendees an opportunity to coordinate in advance of the Oct. 11 listening session.
