The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC/Commission) announced today that it has revised its consultation schedule for four upcoming consultations to include only the draft FY 2014-18 NIGC Strategic Plan. Originally, the consultation schedule included a discussion regarding the NIGC’s draft consultation policy, which is still in the drafting phase and will be presented and discussed at a later date.

Every four years NIGC is required to update the Agency’s Strategic Plan. The Commission is seeking meaningful input on the NIGC draft Strategic Plan, which provides a concrete basis for establishing strategic goals and strategies by which the agency will achieve those goals.

The draft FY 2014-18 Strategic Plan is available here. The NIGC will distribute copies of the draft Strategic Plan to tribes and the public.

The Commission invites all tribal leaders and their designees to share their views with the Commission during the following scheduled consultations, which will focus solely on the draft Strategic Plan.

For planning purposes and to accommodate all who wish to attend the consultation, please RSVP to Rita Homa, Executive Secretary, at (202) 418-9807 or by e-mail to consultation.rsvp@nigc.gov.

For those tribal leaders or designees unable to attend these consultations, we invite you to submit written comments by e-mail to draft.plans@nigc.gov, or by U.S. Mail to the National Indian Gaming Commission, Attn: Draft Plans, 1441 L Street, NW, Suite 9100, Washington, DC 20005. All written comments on the strategic plan must be received no later than October 31, 2012.

Consistent with its commitment to transparency, the Commission will continue to consult with tribal governments. All information related to the strategic plan can be found at www.nigc.gov, under the Tribal Consultation tab on the left side of the website.
