 n Indian Education Meeting\n\n\nNACIE is authorized by § Sec. 6141 of the E
 lementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Ever
 y Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)\, 20 U.S.C. § Sec 7471.National Advisory Coun
 cil on Indian Education. The Council will:\n•Advise the Secretary of Educat
 ion and the Secretary of the Interior concerning the funding and administra
 tion (including the development of regulations and administrative policies 
 and practices) of any program\, including any program established under Tit
 le VI\, Part A of the ESEA\;\n•Makes recommendations to the Secretary for f
 illing the position of the Director of Indian Education whenever a vacancy 
 occurs\; \n•Submit to the Congress\, not later than June 30 of each year\, 
 a report on the activities of the Council including any recommendations tha
 t the Council considers appropriate for the improvement of Federal educatio
 n programs that include Indian children or adults as participants or that m
 ay benefit Indian children or adults\, and recommendations concerning the f
 unding of any such program\; and\n•Advise the White House Initiative on Ame
 rican Indian and Alaska Native Education (WHIAIANE)\, in accordance with Se
 ction 5(a) of Executive Order 13592.\n\nThis meeting is free and open to th
 e public to attend in person or through the online portal.\n
