DESCRIPTION:<p class="default">This one and a half day conference will outl
ine why developing an energy project with a tribal entity on tribal land i
s not a traditional project. Attend this conference to have an understandi
ng of federal Indian law\, tribal sovereignty\, tribal government structur
es\, tribal dispute resolution systems\, and the elements of successful pr
oject development in Indian Country.<br />\n<br />\nLand under the supervi
sion of the United States government that has been set aside permanently f
or the use of Native Americans is known as &quot\;Indian Country&quot\; an
d is a vital energy resource. The National Congress of American Indians (N
CAI) has estimated that tribal lands can contain 10% of the Nation's tradi
tional and clean energy resources. Prudent developers understand that deve
loping an energy project on tribal land is not a transaction with conventi
onal leases\, terms\, financing\, or collateral. These projects present le
gal and cultural complexities that must be addressed prior to\, proactivel
y\, and throughout the entire development life cycle.</p>\n<p class="defau
lt">Managing the relationship between industry\, tribal governments\, and
tribal community members is important to establishing and maintaining harm
onious relationships between stakeholders throughout the energy developmen
t process. The speakers will focus on developing a more culturally-releva
nt understanding of tribal communities and the land they possess. The prac
tical knowledge gained will provide the ability to work with tribes and th
e various policies related to environmental and cultural resource issues w
hile still developing energy in a cost-effective manner.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;</
